Valentine’s Day will look a little different this year. With the uncertainty of COVID, there may be some restrictions as to what you can do for Valentine’s Day in 2021. Typically, with it falling on Sunday, you might have chosen to go away for a romantic B&B in Vermont or maybe dinner at Spoleto’s.

Unfortunately, neither of those are an option. I have compiled a list of some of my fave’s… Now keep in mind, I am a florist so even though I am giving you ideas, each idea will pair well with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

My ideal Valentine’s Day would look like this…

  1. Make breakfast in bed, waffles, or pancakes with strawberries with a bud vase filled with a single red rose placed on the tray.

  2. Write each other a love note.

  3. Crafting time - break out some of your favorite “couple” photos and create either a scrapbook or photo collage frame of your relationship.

  4. If the weather is lovely and crisp outside, we would bundle up and head out for a hike.

  5. Lunch will be a picnic lunch (served in our living room). – (Do not forget the little bubble bowl of red roses on the blanket).

  6. Next pick out a couple of your all-time favorite romantic movies – make sure to have the popcorn and favorite candies ready.

  7. Like cocktails? How about next we take an online mixology class?

  8. If your favorite restaurant is closed for takeout, plan on cooking dinner, but make sure you do it together. – (Do not forget flowers on the table!!)

  9. Time to start winding down, fill the bath, add some rose petals in the water, light some candles and have your favorite wine ready. 10. Finish off the night with getting coconut oil and giving each other massages.

A day filled with perfection. A day to celebrate the love that you share.

Floral tip: Do not wait to order your flowers for Valentine’s Day, like no other year, flowers will be in high demand and should be ordered at least 2 weeks ahead of time.

Tips to make your roses last longer: keep them short (less of a stem for the water to travel makes them last longer), roses LOVE flower food and clean water, it is always helpful to change the water, add in flower food and recut the stems. (Flowers forget to drink after 10 seconds so make sure you cut and then put them right into water).

Don’t place your roses near any sort of heat source i.e. heater, TV.

If it is under 32 degrees Fahrenheit outside do not expose flowers to the elements without being wrapped. They will burn from the cold.

Wishing you a year filled with love, good health, and happiness.
