When it comes to being an electrician, there is so much to love about this rewarding career path. As electricians, we have the unique opportunity to provide one of the most essential services to our community. Electricity is what makes our modern world go round. Plus, it keeps the community feeling comfortable in their homes.

In addition to helping our community in their time of need, one of the best parts about being an electrician is the security in knowing you have a valuable skillset that will stand the test of time. After we master our trade, it becomes a skill we can take with us for the rest of our lives. Not only does this make for excellent job security, but it also gives us the chance to be there for our friends and family when they need help. There is a great deal of responsibility and honor in knowing that our communities look to us as people they can depend on.

One particularly interesting part about being an electrician that might come as a surprise to many people is that our connections in the industry usually come with their perks. In other words, when it is time for us to work on projects in our own homes or put them up for sale, we are often able to get by with a bit of help from our friends, which turns our profits into even bigger profits.

However, if you are interested in a 9-5 desk job where you’re constantly writing emails and working in a cushy office, the electrician life might not be for you. As an electrician, you have to be prepared to work with your hands. Even more importantly, you must be adaptable. We work in different home environments and with different electrical setups, and it is essential that we get acclimated quickly so our clients feel comfortable and we get the job done efficiently and successfully.

Many people are surprised at how lucrative of a career being an electrician can be. In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics says that the employment of electricians is projected to grow 10% from 2018 to 2028, which is faster than the average for all occupations. Overall, the future is looking bright for this field. Industries are constantly changing the way they use electricity, but the development of technology is good news for electricians. It means the demand will continue to grow, so the world will continue to need electricians for the foreseeable future.
