College Prep: Senior Year Roadmap

Senior year of High School can be a huge, difficult transition, but if you have a great tutor and college plan in place, it can be one of the most unforgettable years of your life!  At Infinity Ed, "Education Designed for Success," we have helped nearly 1,000 students further their academic abilities - and we want to help your student achieve their college dreams.  Below are some tips so you’ll be on the way to college success!

 

Year-Round Tips:

  • Focus on Grades!  Colleges put a lot of weight into junior year and senior fall semester grades and classes you take.  

  • Consider a tudor to learn the best test taking strategies.  There is an art to these tests so lean on people who have done it before.  

  • Thank People! Write thank you notes to EVERYONE - it goes a long way!

August

  • Finalize your list of schools

  • Register and/or take the SAT & ACT

September

  • Check collegiate and financial application deadlines

  • Think of who you want to write your letters of recommendation and ask them

October, November & December

  • Participate in College App Week

  • Finish your essays

  • Apply to ALL schools 

  • Research and apply for scholarships

  • Make sure test scores are sent to schools

  • Calculate costs of different colleges

January

  • Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15

  • Send transcripts to colleges

February

  • Complete scholarship applications

  • Contact colleges to ensure they have everything they need

March & April

  • Update your FAFSA form to reflect your recent tax filings

  • Watch the acceptance letters roll in!

May

  • Commit to your college of choice

  • Have your high school send any necessary information to your college

  • Check in with your college for necessary paperwork, records, fees and dates
