Modern Home Security

Article published in Northampton Living
(January 2021)

I’ve lived in Northampton for 3 years. I moved here to become a member of a welcoming community with great schools and a safe place to continue to raise my family. I love living here and can’t imagine ever living somewhere else. As most parents would agree, our top priority is providing shelter, food, and safety for our families.

When I moved into town, I did everything I could think of to make my new home secure. I changed the locks, installed a video doorbell, alarm system, and a few cameras around the home. Maybe not everyone does all these things but for me, a nerd by nature and trade, I find the selection process fun and exciting. Over the last few years I have become numb to the constant alerts on my phone from all these devices. I began ignoring camera alerts and alarm alerts. We even had a few bad experiences with our alarm getting set when one of the older kids was still home alone. They come downstairs from remote learning and the alarm goes off causing stress and anxiety that is already in abundant supply due to the challenges of the last year.

For a while, I had been receiving information on something new. Something unlike any other solution on the market today. I realized what I had in my home was only able to provide clarity after something happens in my home. I really wasn’t doing anything to provide true security. I ordered a system from Deep Sentinel to see what all the hype was about.

Deep Sentinel is different because there are no alarm panels; there are no alerts to review on your phone. Their cameras use Artificial Intelligence to detect people on your property. When this occurs, they send a live video feed to a professional security guard in their office. This highly trained observer monitors the person of interest and observes their behavior. If they pull out a key and open your door, nothing to see here, they disconnect and flag the event as normal activity. If the same person pulls out a rock or hammer and starts trying to break into your car or home, they speak directly to the intruder and do their best to deter the individual. If they are unable to resolve the problem, they alert the homeowner and local law enforcement. This assessment is without racial bias and only escalates when necessary providing your family with the protection they deserve.

I’ve been using the system for about 6 months now and I have had zero interactions with the guards. My family has yet to be questioned by the staff at Deep Sentinel and I can review all the footage from my phone whenever I feel like it, but without feeling like I’m the weak link for their security.

Just launched, they have a line of cameras for businesses allowing more cameras and hard-wired options to eliminate the need for charging batteries or installing solar panels. For business, they will also monitor the inside of your property when your business is closed, as it may not be appropriate to install cameras outside for all businesses.

To learn more, feel free to email me or visit DeepSentinel.com. On the site there are videos of the system in action preventing crime before it happens instead of alerting homeowners and businesses after the damage is done.
